Werra 1 - Zeiss Ikon - 1954/1956

The minimalist camera of Zeiss Ikon. Produced from 1954 to 1956 and relaunches with more features went through the sixties. The idea was clearly to give it clean surfaces and hide the controls. You cock the shutter turning the leathered ring around the lens. It is nice to hold in low speeds. The Tessar 2.8 guarantees correct 35 mm negatives (or positives of course). One thing we learn with this kind of camera is that it is not that hard to guess the distance and adjust it directly in the focus scale. If you can close down to 5.6 or 8 it is not a problem at all (minimum distance is .9 m or about 3 feets). At 4 or 2.8 with subjects at more than 2 meters or 6 feets it is not that hard too. I was surprised by the results when I started.
